The X-Press 165/3000 project for a lighting equipment company

For M.G.S., a company in Bologna that manufactures lighting equipment, we built a hydraulic press brake with a capacity of 165 tonnes and a table length of 3100 mm.

The main technical features of the press brake

The press brake is designed with our Next design. The distance between the table and the crossbeam is 600 mm, with a Y-axis travel of 400 mm, and the work area is equipped with LED lighting. This machine was equipped with the Tele-Link remote service function and its CNC technology is Delem DA-69T, while the offline software is Delem Profile-T 3D.

Safety, ergonomics and precision in the press brake: how to achieve them

The safety system installed is the DSP-AP Laser, which offers a lowered speed change point and reduced cycle time. The system generates a visible laser beam that follows EN12622 standards and protects the operator from any risk of crushing between the punch and die. This system is an improvement over older light curtains or single-beam guards that no longer comply with standards.

Both the footpedal and the two front supports are standard.

The supports are supplied with the machine and can be positioned along the entire length of the press brake by hooking onto the table. They can also be adjusted in height.

The backgauge is 5-axis (X-R-Z1-Z2-X6) CNC-controlled, which in addition to the two standard axes also features the Z1 and Z2 axes. It is characterised by the addition of a stop on a backgauge reference for an increased depth of support during the bending process.

The choice of clamping system

With regard to the choice of intermediates, the customer opted for the Gasparini AirSlide upper pneumatic clamping system with a height of 110 mm for European-type tools. This self-aligning system allows the vertical assembly and disassembly of the press brake tools in complete safety. The automatic alignment function positions and secures the tools, reducing set-up times and increasing productivity.

The bottom clamping is also pneumatic.

Customisations requested by the company

The bending machine is equipped with the E-Reflex Deformation Compensation System, which ensures that bending of the structure is controlled. This system uses a network of sensors located both inside the machine and in the hydraulic system to measure any anomalies. The crosshead position and oil pressure are compared to determine the actual position of the punch, regardless of deformations.
