The project with two 115-3100 press brakes for a heating company

For BPS, a manufacturer of heating and air conditioning equipment, we built two 115 t hydraulic press brakes with a table length of 3100 mm. Both feature the Gasparini AirSlide pneumatic top clamping system and pneumatic flattening hemming tool.

The main technical characteristics of the two press brakes

Regarding the locking system, it is possible to move the intermediates along the entire length of the crossbar to any position, without connecting tubes and without tools. They can be removed or added in any combination, without air leakage. In addition, they are self-aligning: the punches are lifted and brought into support. They are compatible with segmented punches, and support the tools even with the locks open. The lower clamping system is also pneumatic.

The open-height is 500 mm, with a Y-axis travel of 300 mm, and the work area has LED lighting.

The customer chose the Easy Design, and the ECO energy-saving package was installed on both press brakes, thanks to which power can be supplied only when needed. In fact, the motor is controlled by an inverter and is activated only when the press brake needs to run, supplying only the power required by the bending process. During stand-by, the pump is turned off instead of idling, and thus energy waste and oil stress are reduced. The ECO system allows rational and efficient use of energy with savings of up to 50 percent.

Precision in sheet metal working: how to increase it

The two press brakes are equipped with the automatic hydraulic crowning system and the E-Reflex Deformation Compensation System, which monitors the bending of the structure using a network of sensors located inside the bender and in the hydraulic system. The error is measured and compared with the crosshead position and oil pressure. In this way, the actual height at which the punch is located can be calculated, regardless of deflections.

The Gasparini rear registers are 4-axis (X-R-Z1-Z2) CNC-controlled, which in addition to the two standard axes also feature Z1 and Z2 axes. They also have, an additional stop on a reference and 2 retractable sheet supports capable of supporting even the largest and thinnest parts without scratching surfaces.

The CNC is of the Delem DA-66T type, with Delem Profile Lite TL 2D offline software. The two machines are equipped with provision for Tele-Link remote assistance and the Industry 4.0 package.

Both press brakes are equipped with 2 standard front supports, for which special processing has been provided to allow them to be matched to the flattening hemming tool: we have created a rail along which the supports can be attached, thus being able to easily carry out the crushing operations.

The safety system installed is of the Laser DSP-AP type. This device generates a visible laser beam conforming to EN12622: the beam protects the operator from the danger of crushing between punch and die. This system allows the speed change point to be lowered up to 4 mm from the plate. The result is that the upper beam moves at high speed for longer, limiting to a minimum the part of the bending sequence where speed is reduced.

The press brakes are equipped with a standard foot pedal and an additional one.
